International Research Laboratory Chimpanzee and Monkey Protection for Intact Cultures Opened!

On September 2, 2025, the Chief of Staff of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Côte d'Ivoire, Prof. Arsène Kobéa, and the President General Director of CNRS, Prof. Antoine Petit, opened the new CNRS IRL ChiMP4IC in Abidjan. The new institute is a collaboration between the CNRS of France and the Centre Suisse de Recherche Scientifique in Côte d'Ivoire. The IRL is lead by the Unit Director, Prof Inza Kone, and the Scientific Director, Dr. Roman Wittig, and will support research to study intact culture in primates and their protection.
