45 years symposium
18 - 20 Sep 2024

September 18 - 20, 2024
Symposium: 45 years of research and conservation of wild chimpanzees at the

Taï Chimpanzee Project

In 1979, 45 years ago, Christophe and Hedwige Boesch arrived in Taï National Park, Côte d’Ivoire, starting to study wild Western chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes verus). This was the starting point of the Taï Chimpanzee Project (TCP).

In 2024 we are celebrating the achievement of 45 years of continuous research on and protection of the wild chimpanzees of the Taï National Park with a symposium at the Institut des Sciences Cognitives (ISC) Marc Jeannerod in Lyon, the new host for TCP since 2021.

During the symposium researchers of TCP and researchers from across France will present newest research results on communication, cognition, one health, ontogeny and socio-ecology of primates. Please see below a list of speakers and a preliminary program.
